Autumn Equinox Tea

£7.00

Ingredients:
Organic Mullein, Sweet Violet, Marshmallow Leaf, Organic Plantain

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Autumn is the season of dryness, corresponding to the Metal element and associated with the lungs and the large intestine.  This tea is rich in demulcent herbs, perfect for moistening dry lungs and intestines at the change of season from late Summer to Autumn.  As the trees start to lose their leaves and the days grow shorter, we may feel sadness or grief at Summer’s end.  This is a time to look inwards and allow us ourselves to release what no longer serves us.

Mullein is gently warming and expectorant, alleviating dry, uncomfortable bronchial passages and soothing coughs.  It has long been used to strengthen the respiratory system, resolving chest infections and as a specific for bronchitis and asthma.  It also tonifies the digestive system.

Sweet Violet is a gentle expectorant, helping to reduce symptoms of dry, irritable coughs.

Marshmallow Leaf is a soothing, demulcent herb that protects the mucous membranes, and has a soothing effect on all areas of the body where the mucous membranes are present such as the respiratory tract, the digestive tract and the bladder.

Plantain is expectorant and anti-catarrhal; like Marshmallow it soothes and tones all the body’s mucous membranes.

Instructions:
Add a heaped teaspoon to a cup or mug of freshly boiled water, or the same amount per person if adding to a teapot.  Cover with a saucer or the teapot lid and leave to steep for ten minutes for a therapeutic brew.  Drink 1-2 cups daily, or as desired.

Use within 3 months (see date at bottom of jar).  This jar contains enough tea for a daily cup for a month.

Caution:  Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding.  Take away from medication (as transit time may be increased and affect efficacy of medication)
